What are you doing today?
It’s here, the day has arrived, Victoria Beckham is selling 600 pieces from her wardrobe at auction for the charity Mothers2Mothers. Mothers2Mothers assist the UN’s global plan to eliminate paediatric aids by 2015. The aim is to reduce the amount of babies born by mothers with HIV and through tablet intervention this can be reduced from 40% to 2%.
What an inspiring way to support such a poignant charity and to raise awareness through fashion. With her high regard and status in the fashion world, we truly hope and believe that this will pave the way for others to help in a similar way. More often than not, celebrities in this industry are not given the praise they deserve for their ethical approach to conjuring publicity, and this really is an admirable offering from one of the most iconic members of the fashion world.
VB is selling a whole collection of garments and accessories, but one in particular that jumps out to me is the green vintage dress - worn in Paris for a meeting with Karl Lagerfeld. Although it is simple, minimal and clean cut, the statement colour makes it extraordinary. I have also got my eye on the Alexander McQueen number, which she wore on a date night with David in 2009. I love the statement shoulders, figure flattering style and unique graphics… But perhaps the dress of all dresses has to be the white Prada dress worn in Spice World The Movie!
So help eliminate the stigma surrounded by HIV and support VB to help raise money for this wonderful charity. If you haven’t yet signed up to theoutnet.com don’t miss out!
