Shop, Save and Support

It’s one of those tricky subjects each year that we have to decide on, whether we enter into the discounting or not. The original phenomena started a few years ago in the US and it was traditionally only for one day, the day after Thanksgiving. Recently Black Friday has now turned into multiple days and even weeks for some retailers.

Each year we aim to bring you good quality pieces at still fair and affordable prices even with raw materials increasing year on year.

We simply cannot compete on discounts with the larger retailers/brands. Headline grabbing discounts are not always as they seem, often only on certain items or on styles that have been discounted previously.

Recently I have also been noticing more and more brands using brass as their base metal at a fraction of the cost of using sterling silver which we still continue to use for all of our jewellery.

These large businesses work with much greater margins than us to begin with, and therefore much higher initial starting prices. 

We pay a fair price to our artisan workers in India for the jewellery they create for us, to ensure we support them and their families.

As a small ethical business, I want us to use this time to have a different message, we want people to make considered purchases by buying less and buying better. Buy pieces that are special, will be treasured and last for years rather than buying pieces that will be discarded in a few weeks as an impulsive Black Friday purchase.

I have decided that Charlotte’s Web will take part in our own version of Black Friday this year as we also want to give a bit back in gratitude to you our customers who have stuck by us and supported us year after year. I know it has been a challenging year with so many prices increase’s that affect everyone, so choosing where and what to purchase is more important than ever.
