Choosing a fabulous yet functional location for a photoshoot isn´t always easy. There are so many factors to be considered, the light, the background, the weather, and the most important thing to us at Charlotte´s Web is to ensure that the location is a complementary backdrop to maximise the sheer beauty of the pieces of jewellery which we will be photographing.

This year however our decision was much easier, as our founder Charlotte recently made the delectable decision to make her home on the magical island of Ibiza, a photographer’s dream, due to her abundance of breathtaking beaches, captivating coastline, and a seemingly endless choice of natural, scenic spots which just lend themselves perfectly for a jewellery shoot. So for us, this was a foregone conclusion when deciding to shoot our latest campaign.

At the end of May 2016, we began to create our team, with a focus on capturing the elegance of the pieces, in a natural setting. We were lucky enough to find our perfect model, the daughter of a good friend, who was born and raised here on Ibiza, and with her striking, yet not too skinny figure, her bewitching eyes and her natural and youthful charm, there was no hesitation in booking Harley as our model for this shoot.

Having found our perfect model, we set out to deliberate the location, and with so many amazing places to choose from this was not as straightforward as we had thought. We had a vision of shooting on the beach, but also wanted to feature some of the raw beauty of Ibiza´s landscape, and so, we headed to the natural park of Salinas, a UNESCO World Heritage site due to its sprawling expanse of rocky, wild and wonderful scenery, and the fact that it is home to over 200 species of wildlife.

Salinas is a photographer’s dream, with its captivating combination of endless white sand, the famous crystalline waters and the rugged rock formations and sand dunes which break up the landscape. Having assembled our dream team, Harley of course, and Eva Kruiper, a photographer who had impressed us with her previous polished, refined editorial portfolio, the expert hair and makeup artist Dani Ogilvie, and Julien Cosson, our videographer who has just begin to carve himself a career in the famously competitive Ibiza fashion scene, we were excited, prepared and ready for action!

We headed over to Salinas early lunchtime on an exceptionally hot day, and began the shoot at the magical bay of Cala Pluma, just a stone’s throw away from the legendary Sa Trinxa Chiringuito, right in the heart of the natural park, and the home of some of the most magical rock formations, set amongst the dappled waters. We began to shoot around lunchtime, and quickly attracted a small audience, who flocked to watch the shoot in action.

Harley is a truly natural mover and performer, divinely dancing, swirling and capturing some epic shots with her instinctive way of perfectly showcasing the jewellery against the dramatic background. Eva also had her own specific ideas, and the two flowed well together. As the sun reached its highest point and the temperatures rose, we decided to break for, a well earned lunch at Sa Trinxa, an old favourite haunt of ours, where we ate, drank and laughed, soaking up the inimitable ambience.

Back to work as the sun changed position, we continued the shoot on an adjacent beach, flowing beautifully into the ´golden hour´ as it is known in the photography world, when the sun is casting its golden glow all around, and this is the moment when we truly felt we had capture the most idyllic shots, enhancing the jewellery, the location and the light just so. However, as the sun bid us a fond farewell, we were suddenly surrounded by a ferocious storm of mosquitoes, and so had no choice but to beat a hasty retreat...

It was a truly memorable day, and we feel that the images simply speak for themselves, the light shining so magically on the jewellery in that all important golden hour, in this most picturesque, idyllic Ibiza location on such a divine sun filled day, what more could we possibly have asked for?

Ibiza, as always did not let us down, and the images we captured that day reflect the very essence of Charlotte´s Web, everyday luxury, combined with the raw and mesmerising beauty of the island, a heady combination, and a sublime selection of images to be treasured for a lifetime...
